Ali Mohamed Al Matroshi

                • His Involvement in Education:

Upon his return to Ajman, Sheikh Humaid bin Ahmed opened a school to teach Qur’an,
writing, jurisprudence and grammar. He became an Imam and preacher of the Ajman
Grand Mosque, in addition to acting as “Ma’zoun”, i.e. officially authorized to solemnize
marriage contracts. However, he had to work in pearl diving during its summer season.

                • His Move to the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah to Preside over the
                    Judiciary:

When the Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, Sheikh Sultan bin Salem Al Qasimi (1919-1948),
heard of Sheikh Humaid bin Falau, he sent for him to take over the Judiciary of Ras
Al Khaimah. The latter moved to Ras Al Khaimah and spent twelve years there (circa
1928-1940). Sheikh Sultan then decided to transfer him to Al Jazeera Al Hamra’ (Al
Za’ab Island) to take over the Judiciary over there, and to be the Imam of its mosque.
He settled there, married, and was admired and respected by all.

                • His Migration to Qatar:
As the modern Renaissance emerged in Qatar, when Sheikh Ali bin Abdulla bin
Qasim Al Thani (1949-1960) became the ruler, Sheikh Humaid bin Ahmed resigned
and emigrated to Qatar to work as a teacher until the mid-1960s. He then returned
to Al Jazeera Al-Hamra’, where he stayed until his death in January 1995.

                • His Library:
Since his study in Qatar, as part of the student exchange group from Al Taymiyah Al
Mahmoudiyah School, Sheikh Hamid bin Ahmed had been keen to acquire Shari’a
books. He had a small library in the Emirate of Ajman during the 1920s, which he
carried with him to Ras Al Khaimah and developed over the years. After his death,
it was inherited by his scholarly daughter, Afra’ bint Humaid, who has retained what
was left of it in the Al Jazeera Al Hamra’ area of Ras Al Khaimah.

                5. The Library of Sheikh Humaid bin Saleh Al Ghanem Al Suwaidi
                    (1908-1985):

                    His Upbringing and Education:
Shaikh Humaid bin Saleh bin Ghanem bin Jassim bin Jabr bin Rashid bin Abdulla
bin Saleh Al Suwaidi is the son of Amna bint Humaid bin Saif Al Nu’aimi, the sister
of Sheikh Ali bin Humaid bin Saif Al Nu’aimi, one of the oldest scholars in Ajman. 8

He was born in Ajman in 1908, and studied Qur’an, reading and writing at its Katateeb
schools. Around 1920, Shaikh Humaid joined Al Taymiyah Al Mahmoudiyah School
