P. 3
Oh how my views have changed since I started writing my religious columns for
the Carroll County Times (14 years). The articles have changed through the years from
somewhat, fundamentalist views to more loving, more inclusive views of acceptance for
everyone. . . seeing Jesus in their faces.
The articles, I’ve learned from Emails I’ve received, have changed the lives of
many into seeing a new accepting perspective than previously. Thanks to those who took
the time to write me commenting on my articles. They’ve helped me to continue writing
more than you’ll know. Many blessings to you all.
From a Neilson Test I took while doing my religious studies, one of my strengths
is: ‘I am a learner’. As I learned, (always going to classes and reading) it is obvious how
the new information formed new ideas that may seem contradictory to previous articles.
My goal in putting these articles together is to teach one another that we do change, we
are supposed to. Not changing, I believe, is sad.
My precise direction from Carroll County Times, as I undertook the task of writing
the religious column almost monthly, was to not go over 500 words and to bring religion
into our everyday lives and experiences. I hope I have enlightened a lot of people with as
few words as I was limited. Each month, I would remember the powerful sentence in the
Bible with only two words, “Jesus wept.” That guided me to delete most of my article
each month.
