SURFING ON WAIKIKI BEACH
by Alexandra Wilcock
Surfing on Waikiki beach –
Oh, the sun sets too soon,
AUSTRALIA but surfing on Waikiki beach
is different with the moon.
by Max Stanevich For the moon comes out to haunt us
in ocean waves the old ghosts come,
From walking along soft Bondi Beach but we know how to greet them
to Hasties Swamp, where you don’t want a leach, and what is to be done.
In the Great Sandy Desert,

Feel the thundering of the mighty Baron Falls and the joyous amongst the wave’s white foam,
laughing as the kookaburra calls and many a woman has cried out
to sea to bring her loved one home.

and swim into the waves’ deep lair.
by Violette Dobbie We’ve called up all the family,

with my old trees standing proud and tall. that this adventure will soon end.

calmness to us. All sorts of monsters call to us,
Tell me your secrets, in me you can trust emerge out of the deep,
but when they see our surfing army
Rivers full of water with fish swimming deep, they’ll bid a quick retreat.
but I hold my secrets carefully,
for I have promises to keep. The battle has been fought and won
I invite through the moonlight with the ocean and the tide
for the animals to see, and now the battle is over
the soft humming of cicadas and it is we who have survived.

The touch of my leaves brings hope, no doubt Oh the sun sets soon.
and I send my little seedlings to begin to sprout. NOW surfing on Waikiki beach

I care for my children carefully, every day.
