(ANAPESTIC TETRAMETER AND TRMETER alternaely, with an “Iambic lead”)
“Banjo” Paterson used an anapaestic lead into iambic in the first 3 of the 4 lines below —
             — — / — / — / — / — / — / — /
There was move- ment at the stat- ion for the word had passed a-round
              — — / — / — / — / — /
That the colt from old Re-gret had got a-way
             — — / — / — / — / — / — / — /
And had joined the wild bush hors- es; he was worth a thous- sand pound.
               — / — / — / — / — /
So all the cracks had gath- ered to the fray.

THIS IS RISING RHYTHM. THE FIRST 3 LINES IN ALTERNATING IAMBIC HEPTAMETER AND IAMBIC PENTAMETER, with an “anapaestic
lead” — the fourth line is simply IAMBIC PENTAMETER, which makes an interesting contrast in the rhythm.
