The Tampa Y responds to society’s most pressing needs – like drowning prevention and generational poverty – with innovative, community-based solutions.
1,773summer campers received free water safety and swim lessons
through the
Go for Green program.
1,098kids received free water safety lessons through Safety Around Water made possible through the Rays Foundation and United Way Suncoast.
818children in Hillsborough County’s Head Start program received eight free swim
lessons at the Tampa Y. The Y’s Head Start collaboration with Hillsborough County, City of Tampa, City of Temple Terrace and Brandon Sports & Aquatic Center also provides classroom-based water safety education.
621children received mobile swim lessons through a Tampa Y partnership with the Children’s Board of Hillsborough County. The “Be Water Smart from the Start” initiative provides free water safety lessons to kids in their own apartment complex and neighborhood pools.
