   BECAUSE OF YOU...
       In 2018, the Y expanded educational programs to help community members navigate through obesity and chronic illness.
These include Pedaling for Parkinson’s, Enhance®Fitness senior fitness and arthritis management program, Y Weight, LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA for cancer survivors, SilverSneakersTM for active older adults and the Y’s Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP). In fact, DPP earned full recognition from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
in 2018. The program have been shown to reduce the number of cases of Type 2 diabetes by 58% and 71% in individuals over age 60. WATCH how the life-changing program improved Alex & Tonya’s health and happiness:

children, teens, adults, senior citizens, cancer survivors, chronically ill community members, at-risk youth, infants and toddlers were supported, guided and received resources to achieve greater health and well- being for their spirit, mind and body.

6,444 kids and
12,042 adults
living in food deserts received fresh produce from the Y’s Veggie Van - A Mobile Market Place. This includes 700 seniors housed at local senior centers, under a new partnership with Hillsborough County. WATCH how this new county collaboration is improving senior health:
