P. 3
DEAR FRIENDS,
The YMCA of the Suncoast has strengthened the community for 64 years, during which we have made it through many challenging times together. Historically, the Y has played important roles in helping our community endure during times of uncertainty.
2020 is a year that none of us will soon forget, mainly due to the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic. In difficult times, the Y quickly mobilized to find innovative and collaborative ways to use our resources to offer solutions to social voids and help our neighbors.
From providing youth relief care for essential workers, to increasing our food distribution to feed even more families, to re-opening under new safety protocols for families – the YMCA of the Suncoast spent much of 2020 meeting the critical needs in our communities.
While our community navigated through
the COVID-19 pandemic, the Y’s cause to strengthen the foundations of the community remained as strong as ever. As a top-rated 4-star charity, the Y continued to nurture the potential of children and teens, promote healthy living and foster a sense of social responsibility.
This annual report captures how the YMCA of the Suncoast strengthened our community in 2020 with a commitment to three areas
of focus:
YOUTH DEVELOPMENT HEALTHY LIVING SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
We would like to personally thank the YMCA of the Suncoast Board of Directors, Branch Advisory Councils, volunteers, donors,
community partners and staff for their dedication and continued support to serve the critical needs of our community during such an unpredictable year. Likewise, we greatly appreciate our members who stayed with us, donating their monthly membership dues to support our efforts during our temporary closure this spring.
Our impact simply would not be possible without the generosity of supporters, like you, who understand the Y is more than a gym...we are a community! Every day at the Suncoast Y, we remain committed to our cause to strengthen our community. Thank you for your help to keep our community healthy and strong in spirit, mind, and body.
