  The Tampa Y aims to improve the community’s health and well-being by providing programs and activities that promote wellness, reduce risk for chronic disease and help others manage and reclaim their health. » Supported, guided and provided resources to 151,031 youth, adults and families to help them achieve greater health and well-being for their spirit, mind and body. •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
           » Provided chronic disease prevention & management programs to 500 community members, including the Y Diabetes Prevention Program, LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA cancer survivor wellness program and Pedaling for Parkinson’s.
   COMMUNITY
  In 2015, the Tampa YMCA launched a groundbreaking initiative called the Veggie Van – A Mobile Market Place in partnership with the Children’s Board of Hillsborough County, Joy McCann Foundation and Bank of America. The Veggie Van takes fresh fruits and vegetables directly to kids and families in the targeted high-need neighborhoods of Sulphur Springs, Tampa Heights, Wimauma Village and Lacoochee. The Veggie Van has served more than 1,678 kids and 692 families in food deserts without ready access to fresh, healthy and affordable food.
