Healing Home News
Caring for a child always means that extra expenses are going to pop up at unexpected times.
Multiply those expenses by many children—and the bills really add up! That’s why we’re so
grateful for supporters of LWB’s General Healing Homes Fund. Your generosity enables us to
immediately say, “Yes, we can do that!” when the children in our healing homes have a need.
We hope you’ll enjoy reading about Lily, Jerome, and Ruth, just three of the many precious
children who have benefitted from your kindness. Thank you!
Uganda: Mukono Baby Room
When Lily was found on her own at just one year old, the Mukono staff welcomed her with
open arms and quickly began tending to her needs. Lily was initially lethargic and weak, with
edema due to malnourishment. But after beginning a regimen of nutrient-dense food and
round-the-clock nurturing care, Lily began to thrive.
Lily is now a vibrant two-year-old who absolutely loves flowers, pretty clothes, and “helping”
with tasks around the home and in the garden. What a sweet little assistant!
The Mukono staff continues to make every effort
to identify relatives who are able to take care of
Lily. So far, family reunification has not been
possible. We hope Lily will have a permanent
family soon, but in the meantime, we’re grateful
that she’s flourishing at the Mukono Baby
Room.
