B.1.1 Surrounding Features

The site is generally situated on a flat land. The Plant is surrounded by palm oil
plantation and rubber estate around the north, east and the west side of the plant.
The Segamat River is running from the north to the south-west side of the plant.
Residential areas are mainly located on the north-west, west and south-west after
crossing the Segamat River. There are staff quarters next to the water treatment
plant; SRJKC Kg Tengah is located to the north-west of the Plant situated along the
Jalan Kampung Tengah. The immediate residential houses are Taman Kekwa; and
Kg. Padang Lalang

B.1.2 Surrounding Industries

The nearest industrial facility next to the KT1 & KT2 WTP is the Teck Seng Food
Industries which is located 500 m travel by road and within 600 m radius from KT1 &
KT2 WTP. A rattan factory is located next to the water treatment plant.

B.1.3 Site Description

The plant comprises of a process and a non-process area. The process area that is
arranged in the Northeast-Southwest direction includes the following:

• Raw water plum house;
• Clear water tank;
• Filters and Filter Control Building;
• Mixing channel;
• Sedimentation;

• Chlorine Building;
• Chemical Building;
• Aerator;
• Back Wash Tank; and
• Treated water pump house.

The non process comprises of the guardhouse, the car parking area, the store and
the administration of the building which is located at the Northeast section of the
process area. The treated water pumps, transformers, consumer switches and the
substation are located further to the water treatment plant. Staff quarters are
provided within the same compound for accommodating approximately twenty-two
(22) unit quarter houses which approximately accommodates 53 personnel and their
families.
