I started at U.W.I. in September 1967 in natural science and I brought street racing to the Mona Campus. It is alleged that I am responsible for the erection of sleeping policemen on campus and that is quite true. I am sure my classmates will remember my driving as I was the fastest driver on campus from 1967-1974 when I graduated.
I did my internship and residency at Spanish Town Hospital under the guidance of our late revered colleague Dr Knox Hagley whom I regard as the best teacher I have ever had. I then moved to the parish of Manchester where I worked at Spaldings hospital out patients and private practice for 15 years and then I moved to Mandeville where I have worked in private practice and the outpatient department , assisted Dr Peter Wellington with major surgical cases in the days when he had no intern or resident. I have personally driven ambulances with patients from both Spaldings and Mandeville hospitals to Kingston. I will leave the speeds of those trips to your imagination then multiply by at least 2.
I also continued car racing at the Vernamfield Race Track autocross racing etc. I was also the Doctor in charge of that race track and the first Doctor in charge of the new Dover race track in St Ann.
In 1980 I bought an 18 wheel tractor-trailer truck which I actually prefer driving to cars. I also joined the Jamaica Defence Force as a Medical Officer and served from 1988-2003 when I retired as a Major in charge of the National Reserves Island wide.
