The steady wings that once anchored yourself

Now fades through the gaps of our floor

Grey feathers dispersing like snow, then melts and then are gone

You watched them with eyes I’ve never seen you wore.

I know when you’re too sad to face me

When the radiance that sets your face aglow, fades

Your back weak from carrying those secrets as vivid as the constellations

Yet you’re standing tall, determined not to give in to enemies that were

never yours.

I’m losing you to yourself,

Bringing my hands to your face

I whisper over and over I’m here, I’m always here,

Hoping you won’t surrender to the ocean of darkness within.
