4. Introduce the theme: ‘Let’s Make a Circle’ written by Anne Porter Without speaking, get the children into a circle by singing ‘Let’s Make a Circle’ as in autumn lesson one.
“Did anyone dress up for Halloween? I dressed up as a crocodile!” Ask a volunteer to tell you what they dressed up as for Halloween. The group then mimes putting on the costume and ‘being’ the character. Repeat three or four times, with a different volunteer each time.
* Running time approx. 3 mins.
5. Fine Motor Skills: Pumpkin Pie See autumn lesson eight.
* Running time approx. 2 mins.
6. Choreographed Dance: ‘Monster Mash’ performed by Bobby Pickett See autumn lesson eight.

7. Action Song: ‘Sleeping Monsters’ (tune of ‘Sleeping Bunnies’, traditional)
Tell all the little monsters to lie down and go to sleep. Sing the song acapella. When you say, ‘wake up little monsters!’, the children wake up and move around the room, roaring like monsters. After the first verse, tell the children you will be singing about lots of different Halloween creatures and that they must listen to the words and think carefully about how each creature moves.
(gently) See the monsters sleeping, ‘till it’s nearly noon. Shall we wake them with a SPOOKY tune?
They’re so still! Are they ill?
(spoken) Wake up little monsters!
