     Hello Puppet
     Group:
Hello Mr/Mrs Bear
(your pop-up puppet's name)
Puppet:
Hello everyone
   1. Have the puppet stick pulled down so that it is hidden and explain that he/she is feeling very shy today. The adults must sing 'Hello Mr/Mrs Bear’ after 'ready' (to demonstrate the pitch) and the babies must wave to make him pop up. Demonstrate first so that everyone sings the correct melody at the correct pitch. Then get the puppet to pop-up and sing, 'Hello everyone' back... but only if the group sings loudly enough for the puppet to hear! Try answering back in silly voices to make the babies laugh.
2. Ask individual babies to wave to the puppet on their own to make him pop up.
Same as for babies except older toddlers should join in with the singing. When asking individuals, older toddlers should try singing on their own as well as waving.

  Hickory Dickory
     All:
Hickory dickory bumble bee, Can you sing your name for me? My name is Andrew.
Same as for pre-schoolers, however everyone sings the name of the child holding the bee. In addition, you think up pulse actions rather than asking the babies for suggestions.
Same as for pre- schoolers, however everyone sings ‘My name is’ and the child holding the bee then says their name on their own
     1. The children are sitting in a circle. One child is holding the bee and they shake it up and down to the pulse. Everyone else sings the first two lines and claps their hands to the pulse. The child holding the bee replies, 'My name is Andrew’ on their own. If the child speaks their response, model for them how to sing it using their name and ask them to try again. The bee is passed around in the circle until everyone has had a turn. If a child doesn't want to sing on their own, ask the whole group to help them sing their name (don't skip them altogether). Eventually, most children will be able to do this on their own but it can take time. You will need to demonstrate and help most of the children the first time you play the game.
2. Try asking the rest of the group to suggest different pulse actions to do as they sing whilst they wait for their turn (e.g. tapping heads).
3. If there are a lot of children you can speed the game up by doing some verses with a “busy bee” and increasing the tempo.
