Student/Employer-Focused Programs
Throughout the recent years, NCCU Career Services and Out- reach has focused on developing programs and workshops that are designed to connect students with employers. One of our largest con- ferences of the year is the Professional Development Network Confer- ence. The program is designed for students to learn about best prac- tices for ourishing in the world of work. Many employers from all over the east coast set up booths and even teach seminars about getting the rst job, resume building, and so much more. A few students even leave the conference with internships. Another program is one called “Styled For Success.” The purpose of Styled for Success is to enable eligible students to purchase professional attire for job interviews with a “clothing award” of up to $250. The program o ers monetary sup- port for NCCU students, who because of nancial constraints, would not be in the position to purchase appropriate professional attire for an interview. Such interviews could be for an internship, graduate school interview, student teaching placement, or full-time employ- ment opportunity.
