NEWS FROM PTSC
PTSC has been recently involved in several activi- ties connected to exam training.
In the last few months attention has been devoted to the issue of written exam evaluation, as it has been recognized that exam evaluation has several important goals in our system.
It is part of the rituals of belonging to a profes- sional community, an important part of TA profes- sional culture, it is a way to maintain an ongoing reflexion both on TA application in the different fields as well as on the processing, understanding and use of theoretical thinking of other profes- sionals. It is also a meaningful source of power connected with accreditation.
Several other important aspects are worth men- tioning but this will be done elsewhere.
What stated above related to the meaning and importance of the impact of exam correction on our EATA system requires an ongoing sharing of “exam evaluation culture” as well as the develop- ment of discussions and explanations connected to whatever is introduced, an example of this
is the specific policy for dyslexia, in the written exam evaluation.
Our aim is the sharing of decisions connected with training policy but most and above all it is the sharing and discussion about the impact and implications of training policy decisions locally.
Therefore, the need to further develop written exam evaluation training, following the workshop in London, was received with much enthusiasm. The planning of three more workshops, to take place within the next six months, is a response to the repeated requests of several TSTAs, PTSTAs and CTAs of presenting more workshops and for a longer amount of hours.
The decision taken within PTSC has been to do each of them in a different language one in Ital- ian, in Florence on February 9, one, in French, for French speaking people and one in Cherkassy in English on July 2 2019.
The use of different languages is considered essential in order to share exam cultures with- in the local\ national understanding of exams evaluation. Generally speaking cultures are to be considered within cultures in order to understand and share worlds of meaning together with words of meaning.
Other news from PTSC
TEW, Sabine Klingenberg who has very suc- cessfully carried out the job of TEW coordina- tor for many years, will be stepping out of this responsibility in December 2019.
Resi Tosi, who will be during this year TEW coordinator elect, will be taking full responsi bility as of January 2020.
A warm “thank you” goes to Sabine for the excellent work done in organizing and coordi- nating many TEWs throughout the years and a warm welcome to Resi Tosi for taking on this important responsibility.
Handbook revision work is being carried out, in order to better connect the different parts of the Handbook, and to make it more com- pact.
Communication. As already indicated in this newsletter, the “Telegram” as a mean of communication will not be used anymore. Thanks to the cooperation with the Communication Committee we have success- fully started the use of Facebook, together with the simultaneous use of the Web as well as direct mailing in several languages. We are still in the process of further experiencing and evaluating the impact of this new combined communication system.
