ROOFTOP ROOM
Lace curtains stream with summer light, chocolatebubbled lullabies drift over domes.
Swallows dive,
church bells and seagulls
stir the sky. Somewhere below
gondolas glide through glass, a maestro strokes a mask.
Like slow roasted coffee, or olive skin
aftertastes linger
While we, sisters, murmur lie doves
wrapped in thin sheets of afternoon sleep.
