P. 90
2
God sentenced their sin with curses,
And death if they broke the law,
Then came the birth of His mercy,
Born under the yoke of law.
This was Jesus our great Lord,
Born of a woman of flesh;
He gave health to all their souls
From King Pharaoh's hand, from the bondage of sin.
3
The people stubborn and foolish,
They won't listen or obey.
They trusted more in mankind,
Believing they had power.
The People's hearts filled with anger,
Rose up against Moses
They sought to quench all their thirst,
They could not find one place to sate all their thirst.
4
But Moses was very patient,
And his meek heart pleased the Lord;
He cast himself down to his knees,
And God said: Behold a rock!
With the staff you hold in your hands,
You shall smite upon the rock.
And suddenly water sprang,
The water of life that Jesus gave to them.
5
But God was always their leader,
He cared for them with His love;
Till they finally reached Canaan,
The land He promised to them.
They all lived in great and pure joy
Because the Lord cared for them;
They wandered for forty years
And none of their garments had ever grown old.
