Thorn In The Heart
"Nobody volunteer to Ban-Me-Thuot! You knew that If
someone goes to Ban-Me-Thuot, it was no choice! The order!"
"He might want suicide!"
Nguyen heard his friends talking about him. He kept a silent
and Thought of his parent, who has been living in the Ban-Me-
Thuot city. They are working on the field of their coffee
plantation, 9 miles at the East-Southward of the city. From the
time his parent left North to South Vietnam, they had working
hard to make their family living and rearing nine children.
Nguyen knew that it is risky for him, but he always loved his
family. He thought he would help his parent to work on the field
at the weekend, and he loved Ban-Me-Thuot where he was
growing up on the red color ground, beside green forest that
covered all of the surrounding hills, and the mountains. The
springs were winding on the foothills around Ban-Me-Thuot city
with their clear water. The smell spring perfume of the white
coffee flowers rolling in the air, which came from the coffee
plantations around the city. Looking down from airplane Ban-
Me-Thuot city appear between the large of green leaves and
white carpet flowers at the flowering time. The student trees
plant on both side of the Thong-Nhat's sidewalk street, their
branches were touching each of another, and its red flowers were
bloom at the summer. The meek and affable city has two
cinemas of Lo-Do and Tuong-Hiep in the central town, where
his footprint in the rain was over and over on the Nguyen-Thai-
Hoc, Amatranglong, Y-just, Ly-Thuong-Kiet, and Hoang-Dieu
streets at the rainy forest season. It is persistent rain about three
months for each year.
Some of his close friends left Ban-Me-Thuot and their
parents to find the safe place in Saigon Capital and Nha-Trang
city, such as Nguyen-Van-Huong, Nguyen-Huu-Phuoc, Phung-
Van-Tong, Pham-van-Binh.
