"Who told you Viet-Cong don't kill the old people and women?
They didn't accept anything even their brother! If they knew their
brother was resisting them." Nguyen's father interrupted.

"Nobody told me. But it is O.K. if I die by them and best more
than Trung-Dung."

Nguyen shook his head and thought of his mother's love that she
could do anything and sacrifice for her family. He looked at his
mother with moist eyes.
"Mom. Trung-Dung was fast and quickly more than you. If you
don't let him go to take the hoe and shovel, I will go to get it..."
Nguyen said.

Nguyen's mother looked around at her children and cried with
afraid.

"I don't want anyone of you to die before my face. It is hard and
painful for me! Do you understand...?"

Nguyen nodded his head and said:

"I do understand about your love that you gave us even your life.
Also, we could not let you do it because of our respect and love."

Nguyen looked at Trung-Dung and raised his face.

"Let I open the door a little bit and check around before you
crawl out."

Nguyen and Trung-Dung crawl toward the door, while said in a
low voice.

"O.K. Don't listen to her at this time. She was too weak and
worried everything."

"You must know that she was our mother."
