passing grades and demonstrate good behavior and school attendance while maintaining a job at least ten hours weekly for the full semester in order to remain in the program and receive ten credits. Information about the CTE work program is available in the Counseling Offices at Agoura High School and Calabasas High School. Students must make a commitment to keep their job the entire semester. Job changes at semester break only. Weekly attendance is mandatory.

8th to 9th Grade Honors Procedure
The following are parameters for class placement for incoming 9th graders related to Honor Class placement:
1. A student with an A, B+, B, or B- in both semesters of an 8th grade Honors class may automatically enroll in a 9th grade Honors class for that subject.
2. A student with a grade of C or below in one or both semesters of an 8th grade Honors class or 8th grade non Honors class, may submit a waiver request for site review. Teacher input will be obtained when the waiver is reviewed.
3. A student in a non-Honors class, who has an A, may enter a 9th grade Honors class with 8th grade teacher recommendation.
A student with a B+ or below in a non-Honors 8th grade class, who wants to take an Honors 9th grade class, may submit a waiver request for site review. Teacher input will be obtained when the waiver is reviewed.

English I College Preparatory, an intensive course, covers the study of form in short stories, drama, novels, and poetry. The students learn to identify, compare, contrast, and analyze the characteristics of the various genres. The composition program emphasizes the mastering of various paragraph forms: narrative, informative, and demonstrative. A research component is also included. Students are encouraged to experiment in both oral, and written expressions. They are also required to extend their reading beyond the literature included in the basic curriculum. In the skills areas the students learn vocabulary skills, study skills, and listening skills. Instruction in grammar, mechanics, and spelling is ongoing.
