COURSE CODE: AMCH GRADE: 11, 12
PREREQUISITE: A grade of “C” or better in Algebra I and Biology (completion of IPS and concurrent enrollment in Algebra II recommended). Must be in the AME Academy
UC/CSU – Subject “D”
This is a laboratory-based course in chemistry, which meets college or university requirements for entrance. It is designed to meet the needs of both the prospective science major and of the serious student who desires a general knowledge of the field without becoming a science major. Topics will include, but are not limited to, atomic theory, gas laws, stoichiometry, spectroscopy, elements, compounds, acids and bases, equilibrium, and the historical development of chemistry.
COURSE: AME CONCEPTUAL PHYSICS Physical Science
COURSE CODE: QPSY
PREREQUISITE: Algebra I required
COURSE: GEOMETRY AME
COURSE CODE: AMGE
PREREQUISITE: Grade of C or better in Algebra I. Must be in the AME Academy
UC/CSU – Subject “C”
This course introduces the student to geometrical relationships and the concepts of formal deductive proof. Strong emphasis is placed on both algebraic manipulation and numerical calculation. Topics include congruency and similarity of triangles, parallel and perpendicular lines, area and volume formulas, properties of polygons and circles, coordinate geometry and construction techniques.
COURSE: ALGEBRA II AME YEAR COURSE: 10 credits COURSE CODE: AMGE GRADE: 10
PREREQUISITE: Grade of C or better in Algebra I. Must be in the AME Academy
UC/CSU – Subject “C”
This course continues to develop algebraic concepts introduced in the prerequisite courses. The course introduces new topics including functions, inverses, complex numbers, logarithmic & exponential functions, conics, matrices, probability, statistics, sequences & series. Logic & problem- solving skills are developed. The graphing calculator is used. For motivated math students wishing to pursue further courses in math or science. Satisfies the “Algebra II” prerequisite for all such courses.
COURSE: THEATER I AME YEAR COURSE: 10 credits
YEAR COURSE: 10 credits GRADES: 9, 10, 11, 12 UC/CSU - Subject D
STEAM Physics is designed for students who want to work with their hands; this is a conceptual physics class that is project based. This course covers similar material to a traditional physics class but applies those concepts while creating and producing physical machines. Focus first semester will be projects revolving around Newtonian Mechanics and second semester will focus on projects that include Electricity, Light, and Sound. This class covers the LVUSD Physical Science
Requirement and counts as a UC-d lab science.
