From The President

Dear Readers,

Few years of hard work reached a peak point and the mega-event from May 6-9, 2018
saw what our leaders have always taught us - There is nothing which is impossible if we
put our mind to it. Dubai showed the world that it is capable of hosting an international
event breaking all previous records. We are grateful that we could hold the conference
under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and the
attendance of HH Sheikh Maktoum Bin Mohamed Bin Rashid AL Maktoum made our
day.
The conference was a great opportunity for information exchange. With more than
3,200 attendees and 50 exhibitors, the IIA international conference saw global and local
professionals network, exchange ideas and share their vision. Themed “Connecting
the World through Innovation”, we saw several innovative approaches and innovations
being showcased during the conference, including some success stories by leading
organizations from the UAE and how they are addressing the increasing challenges.

We are not only creating our future under the leadership of our forward-thinking
leadership but also striving to build a sustainable and innovative economy whilst
simultaneously combating corruption, fraud and other challenges. The conference
focused extensively on governance, sustainability, technology, artificial intelligence and
innovation. We are looking towards developing the auditing professionals who will play
the role of advisors and leaders of the future.
The “Governing into the Future” symposium also saw several leaders gather under one
roof to explore what governance in the future will look like and the upcoming challenges
faced by both; the board and audit committees.
Special thanks to our speakers, strategic partners, sponsors, exhibitors and volunteers
from around the world whom believed in what we are doing and supported us in making
the largest internal audit professionals’ conference a huge success. We are honoured and
proud of this achievement, and the journey continues as the challenges grow; while the

economy strides toward transforming to a “smart economy”.
