right hand in becoming a symbol of power for it would be the one with a sword in it. People in ancient and modern armies salute those in high rank with their right hand. The officers will solute those under his command back with his right hand. This comes from the ancient association of the right hand with power. From this ancient symbolism, we even have inherited our handshake tradition when we meet someone. The ancients extended their right hand showing that there was no weapon in it as a sign of peace, greeting, fellowship, identification, a covenant, and trust. In ancient times, a handshake definitely had more meaning than it does today. This is also the source for the term Right Hand of fellowship.
“Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.”- Matthew 26:64. In other words, Jesus is the one coming back with the power and authority of God.
“And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.”-Mark 14:62.
“Hereafter shall the Son of man sit on the right hand of the power of God.”-Luke 22:69. Again, Jesus is the one that has the power and authority of God!
Jesus Christ “Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; [or he holds the power and authority of God] angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.”-1 Peter 3:22. Jesus has all the power and authority in heaven and on earth. He is the one that commands multitudes of powerful angelic beings! Note that this verse says that the angels are “subject unto him” singular not unto them! That is because there is only one God that is in charge, has power or authority!
“And then shall appear the sign of the son of man [Jesus] in heaven: and then shall all tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of Man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.”-Matthew 24:30-31. See also 1 Thess. 4:13-18.
“When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:”-Matthew 25:31. Jesus is the one God that is coming back in great power and authority. He will sit upon the “Right hand of God” or literally have the power of God because he is that very God in a visible human body.
