B Cherubims
In Genesis 3:24 and Ezekiel 10:1-22; 28:14, cherubims are mentioned. Qierubims are created beings just like the other angels. Each have four wings (Exodus 25:17-20). Cherubims are always mentioned in the role of covering and guarding (Genesis 3:24; Exodus 25:18-24; Ezekiel 28:14). Cherubims guarded the entrance to the Garden of Eden after the fall of man 2u\d his subsequent expulsion (Genesis 3:24).
In Exodus 25:19, we read cherubims were placed on the top of the ark. Cherubims were embroidered on the curtains and on the veil of the taber nacle (Exodus26:1,31;36:35;IKings7:29;8:6,7). Twocherubimsweremade by Solomon, each ten cubits high, each having two wings outspread, that were five cubits high, and were placed in the holy of holies in the temple. ingtwowingseach (IKings6:23-35;8:6,7;IIChronicles3;5:7-8). Welearn from the Psalmist that God's throne dwells between the cherubinas. The entrance to paradise is guarded by cherubims (I Samuel 4:4; II Samuel 6:2; Psalms 80:1; 99:1; Exodus 25:22; Ezekiel 9:3). Cherubims means those
grasped or held fast".
C Seraphims
^raphim means "burning", or "noble" which are symbolic beings seen in visions with six wings each. Isaiah says, "above it stood the seraphims"
6.2,6). These beings were said to have six wings and were found
fv. ®throneofGod. ThecherubimsarearoundthethroneofGodbut tne seraphims are above the cherubims (I Samuel 4:4; Psalms 80:1; 99:1).
Revelation 4.8 and Isaiah 6:2-9 indicate that they are the leading angels in e ipofGodAlmighty. Theyappeartobeconcernedwithholywor- s ip. The seraphims have no rest in worshiping and the cherubims are the
guardians of the throne of God.
D Living Creatures
^raphi^ in Isaiah 6:2 and the living creatures in Revelation 4:6-9 are
u1 havingsixwings. Theybothwerecrying"holy,holy, o y . It is very likely they are the same angels with similar wings, but dif
ferentoffices. AsRevelation6:1-17reads,thelivingcreaturesworshipGod anddirectthejudgmentsofGod. Thelivingcreatureswillbeeyewitnesses when the 144,000 sing around the throne (Revelation 14:3).
E Archangel
The title archangel is only mentioned in I Thessalonians 4:16 and Jude 9. Michael is the only angel called an archangel. Revelation 12:7 shows
