grow up before Him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: He has no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see Him, there is no beauty that we should desire Him, He is despised and rejected of men, a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid, as it were, our faces
from Him; He was despised, and we esteemed Him not." The Son of God grew up out of a dry ground: the virgin womb.
The Father has conunanded us saying, "This is my beloved Son in whom I am weU pleased; hear ye Him" (Matthew 17:4-5). What did the Son of God say about His earthly mother? ''Who is my mother? and who are my brethren? And He stretched forth His hand toward His disciples, and said.
Beholdmymotherandmybrethren! Forwhosoevershalldothewillofmy Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother" (Matthew 12:47-50; Luke 11:27-28; John 2:3-4; 19:26; Hebrews 7:1-3; Micah 5:2-4;Jeremiah23:5-6). ChristnevergaverecognitiontoMaryasbeingHis mother. Instead, He asked, -nvho is my mother?" To Mary He said,
"Woman, whathaveItodowiththee?" InthedaysofHisflesh,Jesus never, called Mary "My mother."
Some theologians think David's personal confessions are of Jesus. For example Psalm 69:5-9 cannot be Christ's confession because Christ Jesus ^w nosinandcanneverconfesshissintothesecondGod. ForDavidsaid:
thou knowest my foolishness; and my sins are not hid from thee, -d ambecome astranger unto my brethren, and an alien unto my mothers' chil-
of thine house hath eaten me up; 2md the reproaches of thee are fallen upon me." As people suppose they may
biological brothers and sisters, but as Jesus himself declares a^ut his origin. He is the only begotten Son of God, The heavenly Adam of
the same substance with the Father. Jesus is sinless by nature.
Let us look closely at John's revelation found in John 1:14-18: "And the ord was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. John Me witness of Him, and cried, saying. This was He of whom I spake. He that Cometh after me is preferred before me: for He was before me (as the ord of God). And of His fullness have all we received, and grace for ^ace. For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus ^ist. No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which isinthebosomoftheFather,Hehathdeclaredhim." Noticethephrases:
"the Word was made flesh" and "dwelt among us." The Word was not in Maryonly, butdweltalsoamongus. Nownotice:"webeheldHisglory."
