7.14 The Son of David
Jesus cannot have many fathers. Luke 3:23-38 puts it in a real way: jesus...being as was supposed the Son of Joseph...the son of"...and contin
u e naming all the supposed fathers all the way to Adam. This shows that
promised seed is hid from all readers of the Bible, and it nee^ revelation. Indeed, David is not the natural father or biological father
of C^st. Christ is the root of David meaning the creator of David and the aviourofDavid. Jeremiah23:5-6givesusthepictureofwhoistheChrist.
(See also Micah 5:2-4; Matthew 22:41-46.)
word 'son of the supposed fathers' is correct, Jesus could have been the son of Joseph biologically. However, it could not be true, because Christ
was the promised seed and not the biological seed of earthly nature. The word became flesh and was born of a virgin to change the corrupted seed of fulen man to His likeness and image (Romans 8:29-30; Ephesians 1:4-11;
IPeter1:23-25;Galatians 3:27; IJohn3:1-3). Theeternal seed ofGod, the Word of God, without mingling Himself with the sinful nature of Mary, was ^ d e flesh to be the better temple of God the Father (Haggai 2:9; John 2:19- 22; Uviticus 19:19).
Furthermore, it is true to say that Jesus did not have an earthly father. Let us notice the following: "While the Pharisees were gathered together,
Jesus asked them, saying, what think ye of Christ? whose Son is He? They say unto him, the son of David. He saith unto them, how then doth David in spirit call Him Lord, saying, the Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool? If David then call Him Lord, how is He his son? And no man was able to answer him a word, neither durst any man from that day forth ask him any more ques tions." Matthew 22:41-46.
What, therefore, is meant when we say, "Jesus, the Son of David?" Of
