God means business with His enlightening and life-giving Word, which is addressed to mankind. God has an answer to all man's problems with divinely ordered solutions. Inspired theology can also be an effective Christian workers outfit; a "Sword of the spirit" against the evil one who is a master in distorting the scriptures (See Romans 10; Galatians 1; Matthew 13; Ephesians 2; I Corinthians 1-2).
Saving faith comes by true knowledge of the Word. "Yeare my witness es, sayeth the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen:; that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he...." (Isaiah 43:10). Now who wants to build his faith on sinking sand? Whom should we hear and
follow in the way to the heavenly land? Can readers and commentators of the divine record be as authoritative as the original writers of the Bible can? The prophet asked, "Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?" (Isaiah 53:1). We also hear the apostle Paul declar ing, "Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. For I bear them record that they have zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God" (Romans 10:1-3). "How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?" (Romans 10:14). "So then faith cometh by hearing,
and hearing by the word of God" (Romans 10:17).
As a leading figure of Christian theology, Paul could emphatically warn, "But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you thanthatwhichwehavepreacheduntoyou, lethimbeaccursed. Aswesaid before, so say I now again. If any man preach any other gospel unto you than
that ye have received, let him be accursed. For do 1now persuade men, or God? Or do 1seek to please men? For if I yet pleased men, 1should not be theservantofChrist. But1certifyyou,brethren,thatthegospelwhichwas preachedofmeisnotafterman. For1neitherreceiveditofman,neitherwas I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ" (Galatians 1:8-12). We need to be "built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets..." (Ephesians
2:20).
The Apostle Paul asks another question and gives the correct answer, "Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this world? Hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the
foolishnessofpreachingtosavethemthatbelieve" (ICorinthians1:20,21).
