Spirit, is now manifested in His own flesh and blood. John vividly express es the word of life: ^That which was from the begimiing, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; (For the life was mani fested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and show unto you that eter nal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested imto us" (I John 1:1-2). (See I Timothy 3:16;I Timothy 1:15-17; I Timothy2:3-7.)
"No man has seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him." (John 1:18) The jealous GodcannotbegetasecondGod. Thephreise"onlybegottenGodtheSon" is used by some Trinitarians and Tritheists. However, this is utterly wrong, unscriptural, andblasphemyinthesightofGod. Theproperexpressionis to say that God was manifested in the flesh to draw mankind to the likeness andgloryofHisSon. John14:6-10andJohn3:16clearlyshowtheloveofthe Father manifested in the flesh when He made Himself Immanuel, God-Man. The manifestation of God the Father in the flesh, bearing the Name Jesus Christ, to save fallen mankind, is a precious New Testament concept.
3 To Become a Faithful High Priest
In the Old Testament days, Isaiah voiced the indignation of God: "And he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor: therefore his arm brought salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained him" (Isaiah 59:16). But God promised a new covenant through the prophet Jeremiah; "Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I wiU make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake" (Jeremiah 31:31-32).
For the new covenant to stand, God had foreseen the need for one who will be priest forever after the order of Melchizedek which is more effica cious than of the old covenant. Jesus is the saving grace for all that come through by faith (Hebrews 5:6; Psalm 2:7; 110:4). The onequalifying for the office of high priest of the new order was not a descendant of the sons of Levi(Hebrews7:6). TheBookofHebrewsadds,"Forthelawmakethmen high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated forevermore" (Hebrews 7:28). Thecontrastisconspicuous: menwithinfirmityandthelawcannever match the word of oath and the Son with everlasting consecration. It has its parallel in Romans, where Paul declares, "For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh (earthly flesh), God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh" (Romans 8:3).
