reminded the women who came to anoint His body, "Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, eind be crucified, and thettiiiddayliseagain"(Luke^0>fbulalsosoi^toprovetottieThessalonians the necessity of Christ's death (Acts 17:3). The supreme importance and absolute necessity of the manifestation of God in the flesh is the death, bur ial and resurrection of Christ.(Matt.27:50; Heb. 12;2;I John 3:16).
Did God (the Spirit) die? by no means! God (the Spirit) cannot die. But Christ's body (His flesh) and his blood (soul) died on the cross to save the world. (Matt. 27:50,1 Peter 3:18; Matt. 10:28; Isaiah 53:12) teaches us that, "...he hath poured out his soul (blood) unto death...". Mark 10:45 also attests that even the Son has given his life (blood) ransom for many, the life ofthe blood is indeed the Father (John 6:57; John 15:13; I John 3:16; Acts 20:28); and the life of the flesh which is the soul of the flesh is the blood. So when the Spirit (God the Father) separated from the.flesh and blood of Christ, both the flesh and blood died and was buried in the grave until the Spirit (God the Father) raised it up (Acts 2:24^2). Jesus himself affirms by sa)ring "...my heeut is glad, my glory rejoiceth, my flesh also shall rest in hope. For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see courruption". (Psalm 16:9,10; 139:7-8; I Peter 3:18,19). Immanuel (the God- man) poured out His own blood (soul) to save His creation (Acts 20:28, Hebrews 9:11-14; 10:19-22, vv. 29-31).. The death ofthe flesh and blood (soul) of Inunanuel is to validate the redemption of our Adamic nature Qoel 3:21; Is£iiah 26:19, 25:8; Philippians 3:20,21).
F It Is of Supreme Interest In Heaven
It is important to notice that the apparition of Moses and Elijah on the Mount of Transfiguration immediately preceded the work which Jesus was about to accomplish at Jerusalem (Luke 9:31). In Revelation 5:8-10, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders sang a song of the redemption achieved through the death of Christ. Even the angels around the throne, though not in need of redemption, joined-themselves in the song of the Lambwhowasslain(Revelation5:11). Ifthereforethosearoundthethrone of God in heaven, who are not in need of salvation, are exalting the death of
Christ, we who are yet in the flesh ought to know and extol the full and true meaning of the death of Christ.
ill - Misinterpretation of the Death of Christ
Before we examine the true meaning of the atonement, it is perhaps nec essary to mention that some unscriptural doctrines have now and then been put forward in an attempt to interpret the death of Christ in a rather philo sophical way. Some of these erroneous teachings are briefly described here:
