8 ♦ Bible waters'Theology Chapter Two verse:
1. The Biblical account of God creating the universe (Romans 1:19-21). 2. The non-biblical arguments which say, it is an eternal universe.
3. It came to existenceby its own power (self-creating universe).
4. Others say that matter came into existence out of nothing, by its own power. If matter could be produced of its own accord, would we not be able to verify the continued self-production of matter today. Nowhere in nature can we find this phenomenon occurring.
Therefore, all that exists must have been created by God. Logic leads us to believe in an intelligent and omnipotent creator, and turns us from the belief of the eternity of matter or self-creative matter. The Bible truly declares that God created the universe.
Some may saythat theuniverse iseternal, or that it has been eternally cre ated. However, astronomy shows that there have been great changes in the heavens: geologists also say thatthere have been greatchanges in the earth. All this shows that the present order is not eternal.
2.1 Teleological Argument
This argument can be stated as thus: the orderliness and design of the universe implies the existence of an intelligent designer. The cause of cre ation is God. The incredible complexity of even the tiniest forms of life
showsthatlifedidn'tbeginbyaccident. "Theheavensdeclarethegloryof God; and the firmament sheweth his handiwork" (Psalm 19:1). (See also Psalm 19:1-4; Jeremiah 33:19,20; Psalm 104:1-35; Psalm 66:3; 74:17.) The artist marvels at his masterpiece; so do designers, architects, and scientists. But
before all, God punctuated His creative work by His wonderful Word, "and it was good."
2.2 Ontological Argument
This position argues that the idea of God is infinitely greater than man himself. How could the finite human mind even conceive of an infinite, omnipresent, omnipotent, omniscient, perfect God, unless God Himself
imparts that concept
Modem anthropological studies show that without exception, every soci ety and tribe, as far back as can be traced, held a belief in a supreme being. The earliest and mostfundamental beliefis monotheism. Mem's mind was created by God (Genesis 1:27). Man was created in God's image and the
awareness of the existence of God was put in his conscience. It is in man's nature to believe in the existence of an eternal God.
