its sin is put to death by repentance, sin is under control. The desire of sin isdestroyed. Itshouldbenotedthatthisdesirecanberevivedifwedonot follow after the Spirit.
"Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin" (Romans 6:6-7).
• Repentance is crucifying the old man with Christ (Galatians 2:20; I Peter 2:24).

In Deuteronomy 30:2-3, great mercies are prornised unto the penitent: "And shalt return unto the LORD thy God, and shalt obey his voice according to all that I command thee this day, thou and thy children, with all thine heart, and with all thy soul;That then the LORD thy God
will turn thy captivity, and have compassion upon thee, and will return and gather thee from all the nations, whither the LORD thy God hath scattered thee." (See also Deuteronomy 30:11-15,20.)

Repentance is mortifying the members of the old man (Colossians 3:3- 5; Romans 8:9-14).
There are three elements of repentance:

The intellectual element, which implies a change of view about sin, God and self (Luke 15:11-24; Psalm 51:4).
The emotional element, which implies a change of feeling, sorrow for sin and a desire for pardon (Luke 7:36-50).
The volitional element, which implies a change of will, disposition and purpose (Ezekiel 18:27-32).
This is the inward turning from sin. Peter, on the day of Pentecost, preached the gospel. When the people were pricked in. their heart, they asked Peter and the rest of the apostles, "What shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, "Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus
Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Forthepromiseisuntoyou,andtoyourchildren,andtoallthatare afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward
generation" (Acts 2:37-40),
