this Name must be invoked in baptism for regeneration to take place.
The Bible declares, "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, where by we must be saved" (Acts 4:12).
The New Testament era was inaugurated by the proclamation of the angel Gabriel:"She shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins" (Matthew 1:21).
Christ revealed to His disciples that He came in His Father's name. (SeeJohn 5:43; 17:6,11,26, Isaiah 12; John 12:44-45; John 10:30.)
It is written, "But as many as received him, to them gave he p o w e r to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name" (John 1:12).
Jesus Christ conunanded, "...that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jemsalem" (Luke 24:47).
Jesus Christ came by blood, water, and Spirit (I John 5:6), and it is declared, "...that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.HethathaththeSonhathlife;andhethathathnottheSonofGod hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God: that ye may know that ye have eternal life and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God" (I John 5-liI 13).
We read in the prophets, "Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth. In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name where by he shall be called. The LORD OUR RIGHTEOUS- NESS" (Jeremiah 23:5-6).
The prophet Micah declared, "But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be a ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting... And he shall stand and feed in the strength of the LORD in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God; and they shall abide: for now shall he be great unto the ends of the earth" (Micah 5:2,4).
It can be deduced from these prophecies taken together with Matthew 1:21, that the name Jesus means the Lord our Righteousness, and is also the name of the Father. Other examples of "Yeshua" can be found
in Isaiah 12; 7:14; 9:6; and 53.
The revelation of the name Jesus was also predicted by God:
