in that day that I am he that doth speak: behold, it is 1" (Isaiah 52:6).
• The prophecy of Joel, "And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call" Qoel 2:32).
• The scripture commands, "Whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him" (Colossians 3:17). The Father is incarnated, so the Name is one.
• There was a spiritual impact on the recipient when the priestly bene diction, formulated by God himself and given to Moses, was applied on the people. Scripture says, "On this wise ye shall bless the cWldren of Israel, saying, unto them, 'The Lord bless thee, and keep thee... And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel, and I will blessthem"(Numbers6:22-27). WeseealsointheconversionofSaul in Acts chapter nine that "The Lord said... he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel: For I will show him how great things he must suffer for my
name's sake" (Acts 9:15-16).
Indeed, it was at baptism that Paul put on christ in the Name of Jesus (Gal. 3:27). H© testified that he was instructed by Ananias, who baptized him after asking this very important question: "And now why tamest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord" (Acts 22:16).
InameetingofthecouncilatJerusalem,Jamessaid, Simeon(Peter)hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name..." (Acts 15:14). Previously the benediction applied to the children of Israel. However, today Jews and Gentiles alike put on the NameofJesusinbaptism. Everyconvert, tohavethesavingNameofthe Lord Jesus Christ sealed on his life, must be baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ(Revelation3:12). Itiscertainlynotbymerecoincidencethatthedis ciples were called Christiai« starting at Antiodv they had put on Christ by baptism in the Name ofJesus, to bear His image and nature by faith (I John 3:1-3,Romans8:29-30,Philippians3:20-21).
