Daniel prayed and fasted, setting his face unto His God to seek His face and mercy for his people (Daniel 9:3).
Fasting with a mighty cry and with a fixedness of thought, firmness of faith and fervor of pious, and devout affections and amendment of life, turned away the wrath of God from the city of Nineveh. (See Jonah 3; Esther 4; Ezra 8:21-23.)
Daniel's prayer and fasting was heard and he received an answer from God:
a) He prayed and fasted with repentance (Daniel 9:3).
b) He humbled himself, falling in ashes and sackcloth (Verse 3)
c) Was asking mercy for his people, his leaders and his country, repent ing on behalf of all. (Verses 4-19)
d) The zingel Gabriel came with the answer to him after 21 days of fast ing and prajdng (Verses 20-27).

• Moses and Aaron stood between the dead and the living and the plague was stayed (Numbers 16:42-48).
• Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he fasted and prayed earnestly that it might not rain. It rained not on the earth for three years and six months. And he prayed again and the heaven gave
