B A Jealous God
I am lliG LORD thy God which have brought thee out of the land of
house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other gods before
niG* Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath or that is
in the water under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for 1the LORD thy God am a jealous God../' (Exodus 20:2- 5; 34:14).
God strictly warned man to take heed lest he forget the covenant of God, and make a graven image, or the likeness of anything which the Lord our God hath forbidden. "For the LORD thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous ^od. (Deuteronomy 4:23, 24). Again, in Deuteronomy 6:14-15; God said, "Ye shall not go after other gods...(For the LORD thy God is a
jealous God among you) lest the anger of the LORD thy God be kindled against thee, and destroy thee from off the face of- the earth."
We should not tempt our God in provoking Him "...to jealousy with shange gods,„" Peuteronomy 32:16). He proclaims His oneness saying, ee now that I, even 1, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I
make alive; I wound, and 1heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand" (Deuteronomy 32:39; Exodus 34:14).

• God is the am He" and beside Him there is no other god (Isaiah 43:10-13; Isaiah 44:6-8; Isaiah 45:1-6, 21-23; Jeremiah 10:6,11).
He is the Alpha and Omega; the beginning and the ending (Isaiah
48:12-14; Revelation 1:8; Revelation 22:12-13).
Moses proclaimed the oneness decree of God in many places (Deuteronomy 4:35; Exodus 15:11; Deuteronomy 33:26). It is perhaps most notably stated in Deuteronomy 6:4-5,15,16 when he said, "Hear, O Israel:
The LORD our God is one LORD: And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might... (For the LORD thy God is ajealous God among you) lest the anger of the LORD thy God be kindled against thee, and destroy thee from off the face of the earth. Ye shall not tempt the LORD your God, as ye tempted him in Massah."
