dination. With their faces on the floor, trembling with tears of joy, they felt a shining anointing of God's Spirit hover over them. We all experienced the indescribable presence of the King of kings in a glory cloud that strengthened and prepared the new ministers for service.
Our souls enriched, we left Addis. In April 1987, when Erkenesh came briefly to bless the church in America, we learned about the miracle she had claimed.
"Jesus answered, but not the way I expected," she explained. "A fine young man from one of our churches who was drafted to fight felt so sad and discouraged that he went into the forest near his station to pray. He rolled on the ground in desperation, asking, 'O God, is this my place? What do I have to do with guns and fighting? I only want to work for You. I don't want to stay here. Help me. Lord!' He wept bitterly. At that very moment God sent a little bird that began to sing to him in his own language, 'Praise God! Praise God! Praise God!'
"Startled, he wiped away his tears and timidly began to praise the Lord with the bird as it sat on the low limb ofa tree. As the soldier's praises gained momentum, they swept away self-pity and discouragement. He returned to camp full of joy and with a holy purpose to witness. In a very short time, thirteen communist soldiers repented and were baptized in the name of Jesus.
"You see," Erkenesh concluded, "God did not stop the war. He answered by sending a revival to save soldiers gathered from every province."
Miracles and revivals continue in Ethiopia, and the end is not yet. Praise the Lord!
