P. 30
God accomplished His work at that time by putting His name in this angel, so that people' could follow him. The angel represented the Lord God to the extent that he could speak as the Lord.
Clearly, he received messages from God and passed them on to the Israelites. The Lord put His word in this angel and g^ve him power and au thority. Yet this power and authority was all deter
mined by God's will; it was not the angel's own power and authority. Angels are empowered by God to fulfill His errands (Psalm 78:49; 103:20).
In Isaiah 44:24, God affirmed that there is no one anywhere comparable unto Him: "I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the
earth by myself." This declaration does not deny the existence of angels, for verse 26 speaks of the servant of God and the messengers of God. Angels are simply God's messengers, yet these messengers cannot be God or be equal with God. While God has angelic attendants, He is unique in His divine nature. He alone is God, and there is
no one like Him.
