Archery
When I decided to shoot for the rst me, a Southland Boys’ High School sta member recommended archery to me, and a year a er, here I am making a name for myself
in New Zealand Archery. I recently went to the South Island Indoor Compe on where I came 5th and my personal best score was 174 / 180.
I have fallen in love with the sport and a
lot of that is thanks to my coach Ardy Ayto. He gave me a chance and never lost faith
in me. He has always had gear for me and the other students and all up is an amazing person. I feel obliged and honoured to make him and my community proud, as I take on the country with my team that includes George Naylor, Tommy Dobbins and myself.

ATHLETICS CHAMPIONSHIP DAY 2018 – THURSDAY 1 MARCH
Students who had quali ed for the Championship Day had an opportunity to set new records, qualify for the Southland Athle cs Champs, and compete for House points at Surrey Park.
Many students gained impressive results and the par cipa on and engagement was outstanding.
With a high propor on of athletes represen ng Coldstream House, it was always their Championship Day to lose.
Some outstanding individual performances saw nine records broken, and with many young athletes expected back in 2019, there are bound to be further records smashed.
A special thank you to all the sta , parents, Year 13 helpers and of course, well done and congratula ons to all compe tors. Many Boys’ High students con nued on to the Southland Champs, and further to the
