ALICE IN WONDERLAND JR – JUNIOR PRODUCTION
From the 27th to the 29th of November, CentreStage became home to a weird and wonderful array of characters and creatures, as our Junior Produc on of Alice In Wonderland Jr took to the stage.
Coordinated by Southland Girls’ High School, the Junior Produc on saw a cast of 57 leading audiences through Alice’s quirky adventures.
Based on the classic 1951 Disney lm and Lewis Carroll’s books The Adventures of Alice in Wonderland and Through The Looking Glass, the stage show followed Alice (Alyssa Parkinson) as she meets the perpetually late White Rabbit (Tom Waghorn), a talka ve Doorknob (Vere Jukes), the eccentric Dodo (Sam White), the mean Girls of the Golden A ernoon (Ashleigh Pu -Fallows, Ebony Stevenson, Riley Smith, Harriet Johnston
and Jasnah Luna), the mysterious Caterpillar (Meadow Bodkin-Allen), the loopy Mad Ha er (Rauiridh MacCallum) and March Hare (Ma hew Smith) before facing o against the King and Queen of Hearts (Sebas an Carston and Jyra Luna). Surrounded by a colourful array of Royal Cardsmen, Lobsters, Flowers and zany ci zens of Wonderland, the show was a visual symphony.
The cast worked through a very ght rehearsal schedule, working hard to learn lines, polish dance moves and manage close harmonies. Each night their e orts were rewarded with an apprecia ve audience.
Many thanks to the Southland Girl’s High produc on team of director Ria Cummings, musical director Peter de Blois, choreographer Pip Paulin and producer, Sarah Rae, as well as the many other sta and students who worked behind the scenes to make sure audiences had a zip-a-dee-doo-dah day.
