Champs, 1st in the South Island Champs, and nished 5th in his 1st year compe ng in the U19 age group at the New Zealand Secondary School Championships in Nelson earlier this year.
Jaxon competed in the Junior (U20) Oceania Championships in March this year and unfortunately didn’t have his best race but came away with 13th place. Jaxon has worked hard over the winter months in prepara on for the World Champs, training up to 18 hours/week with a combina on
of swimming, biking, running and strength and condi oning training. He was privileged enough to be selected as part of the Academy Southland Programme where he has been o ered invaluable support around such things as nutri on, key mental skills and prepara on, training/academic/life balance, strength and condi oning, and goal se ng.
On September 13th Jaxon raced at the ITU World Age Group champs in the 16-19 category, compe ng against a variety of other countries including Australia, USA, Britain, Germany, Hungary, Mexico, Japan and more. Coming out of the swim in 10th place, his quick transi on set him up to get into the lead group of 5 compe tors on
the bike. The group worked well together and held o the chase group, coming in to the second transi on with a good posi on which set him up for the run. He held his own on the 5km run and ended up nishing in 6th place.
Not a lot of me to rest though, as he now heads into training for the start of the Southern Hemisphere season.

Volleyball
The 2018 Year 7 and 8 Volleyball team started o in Terms 1 and 2 with a hiss
and roar, with eight boys playing every Wednesday against a variety of mixed and single sex intermediate teams. The team
won more than they lost and had a great
me improving their skills, thanks to Amanda Jarvie who helped with coaching. During Terms 3 and 4 the team was slightly di erent, however there was a no ceable improvement as the boys began playing more as a team, crea ng be er volleys.
Thanks to all the parents who watched and supported the team each week. Special men on to Karl Frecklington for being a star server.
