It is particularly di cult to judge a player's ability, however, and everyone, especially in the junior section, seems to take a delight in upsetting the seeding. It can only be hoped that the old hands in the senior draw will stand rm and live up to their reputations.

The badminton group, which played this year after school on Mondays, is about the same size as in previous years, but enthusiasm is undoubtedly growing. When it is regarded as an o cial school sport, and time found for it on the sports afternoon, then it will make much greater headway. The school championships found a worthy winner in M. Pascoe, who had previously won the Southland C Grade Championship.

Table Tennis Cl b
A group of about a dozen boys have met on a Monday or Friday afternoon after school in the gym nasium under the guidance of Mr. Curtis. With only three tables, and demand for the use of the gym., it hasn't always been possible for everyone to have a game. A ladder has been set up and it is hoped to have a tournament in the third term. Some coaching has been given by Mr. Curtis.
