1960s



     1960: West Lebanon H.S. closes & opens a new building using the name Seeger Memorial.
                     a. Gilboa Twp. consolidates into Remington.
                     Area Leading Scorer: Bob Wallace (Covington) 22.3 ppg
     1961: Earl Park, Freeland Park, & Wadena consolidate into Fowler.  Pine Twp. consolidates into  Oxford.
                     a.  Flora & Burlington consolidate to form Carroll H.S.
                     b.  Clinton Prairie is formed by the consolidation of Colfax, Jackson Twp., Mulberry, &
                         Washington Twp.
                     c.  Raub H.S. consolidates into Kentland.
                     d.  Doug Reid (Frankfort) is named to the Indiana All-Star Team.  He will play  basketball @
                         Louisburg College (NC) & Ball State.
                     Area Leading Scorer: Denny Shoup (Clinton Central) 22.1 ppg
     1962: Bob Igney (Rossville) & Dick McGaughey (Crawfordsville) are named to the first Silver  Anniversary Team
                by the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame.
                     a.  Wayne Wilson (Lafayette Jeff) is named to the Indiana Star Team.
                     b.  Ward Lambert (Crawfordsville ‘08) & Homer Stonebraker (Wingate ’14) are  elected to
                         the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame.
                     Area Leading Scorer: Gene Milner (Rossville) 25.0 ppg
     1963: Gene Milner (Rossville) leads the state in scoring w/ a 30.6 ppg average.  He will go on to   play basketball at
               Butler.

                     1  Team All-State: Gene Milner (Rossville)

                     a.  Frankfort opens FHS Arena in November 1963 w/ a capacity of 5509, making it the   largest
                         high school gymnasium in the Lafayette area.
                     b.  Buffalo, Monon, & Reynolds consolidate to form North White.
                     c.  Adams Twp., Burnettsville, Idaville, & Monticello consolidate to form Twin Lakes.
                     d.  John Conrad (West Point) is named to the Silver Anniversary Team.
                     e.  George Spradling (Frankfort ’22) is elected to the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame.
                     Area Leading Scorer: Gene Milner (Rossville) 30.6 ppg

     1964: Lafayette Jeff finishes 28-1 & wins their 3  State Championship,  defeating Huntington in the title game
               58-55.

                     a.  This was Marion Crawley’s 4  state title (2 @ Washington & 2 @   Lafayette Jeff). Crawley’s

                         4  title tied the state record (at the time) held by Frankfort’s Everett Case.
                     b.  Denny Brady (Lafayette Jeff) is named Mr. Basketball.  He will play basketball &  baseball @
                         Purdue.
                     c.  Terry Stillabower (Lafayette Jeff) is named to the Indiana All-Star Team.  He will  play basketball
                         @ Ball State.
                     d.  Terry Smith (Richland Twp.) leads the state in scoring w/ a 31.4 ppg average.  He will play
                         basketball @ Wabash.
                     e.  Wallace H.S. consolidates into Hillsboro.
                     f.  The Wabash River Conference is formed.
                     g.  Charles Johnson (Frankfort) & Bob Riley (West Lafayette) are named to the Silver  Anniversary
                         Team.
                     h.  Jewell Young (Lafayette Jeff ’32) & Marion Crawley (Greencastle ’26 & former  Lafayette Jeff
                         Head Coach) are elected to the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame.
