Central New Mexico Community College opened the Rio Rancho Campus in August 2010. Located near the City Center,
the Rio Rancho Campus offers associate degree programs in Business, Liberal Arts, Nursing and Teacher Education.
Thanks to a strong partnership between CNM and the neighboring University of New Mexico West campus, all four of
the CNM programs transfer into UNM’s bachelor’s degree programs offered at UNM West,
Medical Technician, Automotive Technology, Wildland Firefighting and Nursing Assistant. There are also some Liberal
         Arts courses offered as well.
Tuition for CNM’s career and technical education
courses, which span a wide range of programs from
Nursing to Welding, are only $32 per credit hour or $384
         for a full-time load of 12 to 18 credit hours. CNM’s
academic transfer courses, such as Liberal Arts courses
that transfer to four-year universities, are only $52 per
credit hour or $624 for 12 to18 credit hours, which is a
fraction of the tuition cost at four-year universities.
The 62,000 square-foot Rio Rancho campus building,
located on a 40-acre site, includes general classrooms,
a state-of-the-art nursing simulation lab, and biology,
chemistry and computer labs. The building also includes
an interior courtyard and plenty of natural light, which
reduces energy costs. In fact, the CNM Rio Rancho
campus building was recently awarded the Leadership
in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold
certification for its energy efficient features, smart
design and pleasant aesthetics. It is the largest higher
education building in the state to receive the LEED
         Gold standard.
