Page 49 - ABCs of quarantine
P. 49
I’ve felt not-xenophobic
during quarantine.
In Yakima, someone broke the windows of a local
restaurant and spray-painted hateful words
blaming the restaurant owners for the virus because
they were Asian.
The restaurant had to close to repair the damage
and they felt sad and scared to reopen again.
Our family is not-xenophobic. Our heads knew it
was not their fault. It is not any race of people’s
fault. The enemy is not a kind of people. It is the
virus.
We showed support for the restaurant as a family
by ordering their food when they re-opened.
Feeling not-xenophobic was the most delicious way
to fill our tummies!
