SENSORY PLAY IN YOUNG CHILDREN
Sensory play includes any activity that stimulates your young child's senses: touch,
smell, taste, movement, balance, sight and hearing. Sensory activities facilitate explora-
tion and naturally encourage children to use scientific processes while they play, create,
investigate and explore .
Sensory play is a vital part of early development in children.
Here, the children are exploring primary colours and how they can
change to secondary colours. The conversation included the use of
appropriate and new vocabulary. It also encourages development
of the children’s fine motor skills.
The children chose the activities independently out of their own curiosities and interests
which is highly encouraged at Abuja Prep as every child is a unique individual.
