I repaid the personal loan within a short period of time. It was years later after receiving a telephone call from Arch McGregor’s wife that I learned that Arch McGregor had passed away. Mrs. McGregor invited me to her home for afternoon tea as she wanted to talk to me about her husband. What she revealed, took me by complete surprise. She referred to the loan given to me by the bank, which in fact was not loaned to me by the bank but by Arch McGregor personally, and he did not want me to know that. I was speechless, finally I asked her why? She said that they have no children, and Arch saw something in me that he felt was needed and it was his way of helping fulfill that need. I was truly moved by his generosity which has remained with me all my life and I have retold the story on many occasions. Mrs. McGregor thought that I should be told.
