been obvious, I had to control my emotions to hear what he had to say. All that I did hear was that the loan would be a personal loan, reviewed monthly and he required me to report to him personally at the end of each month with updated progress reports.
I opened my office on Clovelly Road, Waverley and traded as Maxton’s Real Estate. If I was driven to succeed prior to the launch of my new venture, then the motivation to succeed grew exponentially. My responsibilities in my mind were enormous, there was no turning back, I had to succeed. I was working 7 days and most nights and unfortunately my health was not improving.
My reputation and success were growing, property sales and project development became the hallmark of my business. In addition, I developed a property and strata management business. I expanded my office to include a receptionist and property manager, a position taken by my sister Sabine.
I received a call from Arch McGregor my bank manager to visit him, whereupon he advised that my business had expanded beyond the Coogee bank branch capabilities to service my needs. He recommended I move my bank account to the Bank of New South Wales (later became Westpac) City House branch in George Street. We continued our association and met regularly once a month and socially at Xmas.
