CHAPTER THREE
                   THE CORRELATION BETWEEN BOTH

                           (Vocabulary & Creativity)

        A. The Correlation

The more words a child knows, the more effectively
they read and the more effectively they learn – whatever the

subject. Vocabulary is so influential, in fact, that educational
psychology pioneers identified it as the single greatest

               indicator of overall intelligence.

Vocabulary equals understanding. As anyone who
has ever struggled through a jargon-packed legal contract

knows, vocabulary knowledge is absolutely crucial to
successful reading. By knowing more words allows readers

to understand more texts. Schmitt (1977) emphasized that
lexical knowledge is central to communicative competence

and to the acquisition of a second language.

In other side, Munandar (2012) explained that
creativity as a general ability to create new relationship

between elements which have been provided. By seeing the

theories above, it indicated that there is a significant
correlation among vocabulary mastery, creativity and the

ability on mastering and using the language skills. In doing
