Associate Dean of the School of Education
Dear 2016-2017 Graduates,
On behalf of the faculty and staff of the School of Education at VIU, I congratulate
you on your graduation!
This is an exciting time in your life, as you embark on a new part of your journey.
Just remember that the journey may not always be easy, but your studies and the
lifelong relationships that you have established while at VIU can serve as a
roadmap.
I hope that you will focus on dreaming big and serving as a positive-change agent
who makes the world a little better every day at a time. As Nelson Mandela once
said “education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world.”
This exemplifies what it means to be a VIU graduate, as you work to make the
world a better place by applying and building upon what you have learned from
your time at VIU.
I also hope that you realize that, although you may be graduating, you are always
a part of our VIU family. In fact, your graduation signals your induction into an in-
ternational community of VIU alumni. Just remember that your success is our
success; therefore, please keep in touch with us now and in the future.
Best of luck,
Kevin J. Martin
